ABANDONED SOVIET MONUMENTS

I am utterly astounded by the sheer beauty of these recently discovered abandoned Soviet monuments.
Commissioned in the 60s and 70s by the former Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito, they were designed and built to commemorate sites where WWII battles took place, or where concentration camps once stood.
So futuristic in style, yet carrying with them the underpinnings of (what was then) a Yugoslavian socialist region, these sculptures truly depict the strength of the Socialist Republic. Of course, any symbolic meaning these monuments ever had, has certainly been lost since the fall of the Republic in the 90s - but all the same - as works of art, these really are something else!
